Publication - menu of the publication you selected to work in
Date of Publishing - date of publishing
Project - name of the project (e.g. M1_ 2015_07_25_298). The archived project is labeled with a red notice ‘Project is archived!’
Refresh - refresh all the menus
 

 After selecting the project and the edition, the table opens, containing number of pages, relative number of a page (if total number of pages and pagination do not match up), sections, subjects, number of ads assigned to the page, code of the user (graphic designer) working on the page, label showing whether the photos are sent to the processing and the page status (whether is open, in the work, in the PDF...).
Below the table there are menus for work with the pages, statuses, control of the page before making the PDF, and menus for work with global.

 

 

 

 

 

 

image Open - open marked pages (wait a few moments for page to fully load before you start working)
Close - closing the page (if the page is not saved the InDesign will ask whether you want to save it)
Save - saving the page - used during the work to enable the information to get through the system (e.g. after the photo is sent to a processing)
Save Close - use arrows to change the status of the page after finishing the work (e.g. from  WRK status to RDY)

Preflight - enables the quick control of basic parameters of the page before making the PDF for the press. This option controls:
Missing font or glyph - if there is font or glyph missing on the page
Overset text exists - there are ‘frames’ on the page with an excess text
Links need action - are there links that are missing or that have been changed
Colorspace issue - whether all photos are in the CMYK model
Effective resolution below - whether the resolution is below the limit that was established at creating the publication
Open page PDF - enables opening the PDF of the page selected in Acrobat by single click

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Create new spread - enables creating the new spread. It opens in the new window within which you define the section and insert the pages into, number of pages that are inserted, which page is the first, whether it’s left or right, if there is a subject type in the name and define whether the original page from which they’re to be created is a blank template or the active document. At the end there is an option to copy the merged articles together with the links, and it’s used for work in InCopy

After inserting the new pages they are shown in the table but with the incorrect page numbers. You can see the same also through the Press module of the StoryEditor where the system warns you on the incorrect pagination.



Refresh the Absolute Page No. and Page No. to Display in the Press module to correct the pagination.

After refreshing, the page numbers are displayed correctly both in the StoryEditor and the StoryLink.
 

Add Page - adds pages at the end of the open document
 

Delete Page - deletes pages from the document. The pages are deleted from the database, but not from the multi page document. When you reopen the document you will get notice that the document holds more pages than is recorded in the system

    

When this happens you need to delete the excess pages directly from the InDesign document.

Delete Spread - deleting the selected pages or the document. Refresh the Absolute Page No. and Page No. to Display in the Press module to correct the pagination

 

Insert Document - inserts the selected pages (one or more) into a document open in the InDesign. After inserting, the StoryLink asks whether you want to reset the pagination in the entire global

 

Extract Pages - extracts one or more pages from the active document (section). Refresh the Absolute Page No. and Page No. to Display in the Press module to correct the pagination
 

Split active document - split the page within one document (section) to two separate InDesign documents. Again, refresh the Absolute Page No. and Page No. to Display in the Press module to correct the pagination

 
  Move Document Up/Move Document Down - moves the selected page (or more of them within the section) up or down in the global, but it doesn’t insert the pages into already created multi page documents (e.g. page 33 will be moved to the page 37 if 35, 36 and 37 are merged)
Package - creates the InDesign package of an active open document

Publish Document - creates the PDF document of a page for the press.
If document contains more than one page, you will be asked whether you want to send all the pages from the document or just the selected one. If you select No, only the active page will be sent; if you select Yes, the whole document will be sent.

 
   

 At the bottom there are menus for positioning the InDesign and StoryLink windows, menu for sending photos to processing, for sending the elements to InCopy, unlinking the elements and updating links.

MP (Media processing) sending photos to processing. Opens in the new window and contains all photos from the document you work on (see end of the chapter for further details)
IC exports the selected elements to InCopy (if some of the elements of the article are added later on, and you want additionally to work in them, this is the way that enables their modification in InCopy)
Unlink unlinking the labeled element on the page
Update links use this when you want to refresh all of the elements on the page that have been changed
